Reading for pleasure CPD and school partnerships
Practical CPD and strategic support to help your school build a lasting reading culture.
All my services are bespoke, evidence-informed and tailored to your school’s specific needs, context and priorities. Partnerships can be aligned with your School Improvement Plan and existing literacy priorities. Delivery is available in person or online.
School partnerships
My support for schools is structured around three partnership tiers, each one designed to meet you where you are and build from there. All three are grounded in the same evidence-informed approach – the difference is depth, duration and scope.
Foundations

Reading for pleasure CPD workshops and English teacher training
My workshops provide practical, research-informed secondary teacher CPD that staff can implement immediately. Each one can be booked as a standalone session or delivered as part of a wider partnership.
Embedding a whole-school reading for pleasure culture
For: Senior leaders and subject leaders of English
In this one-hour workshop, participants will explore the research on whole-school approaches to reading for pleasure, what effective practice looks like, and leave with a concrete action plan designed for their unique context.
Read aloud – the power of bringing texts to life
For: English departments and subject teachers
This workshop explores the research on reading aloud and its power to enhance students’ enjoyment and understanding of a text. Participants grow in confidence reading aloud to their classes and leave with practical strategies to bring texts to life.
Designing lessons for the enjoyment of text
For: English departments, subject teachers and librarians
This workshop supports participants to design lessons built around exploration, discussion and the genuine enjoyment of texts – moving beyond comprehension tasks towards a richer, more meaningful engagement with reading.
